Zita Gustav Wende *

Zita Gustav Wende is a theater director and producer. Her work is performed at municipal and state theaters as well as in independent productions.

Her studies in theater, film, and media studies led her to Vienna and Berlin. Simultaneously, she acquired practical experience at the Volksbühne Berlin, including as an assistant director to René Pollesch and Johann Kresnik.

She then studied directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Baden-Württemberg. There she created her own productions such as Gebärneid (Biopic), Fräulein Else (based on Arthur Schnitzler), Titus Andronicus (William Shakespeare) and founded the interdisciplinary collective ODAS. Her work is characterised by a strong focus on language, rhythm and group processes.

After graduation, she continued her work as a director at Schauspielhaus Bochum. She assisted Johan Simons and directed LIEBE/ Eine argumentative Übung (Love/An Argumentative Exercise) and Der große Gatsby (The Great Gatsby).

In the season of 2025/26, her new production Fischer Fritz premiered at Theater Regensburg.
